Cathy Corison stands as one of Napa Valley’s defining figures. She began her work in the 1980s and quickly built a reputation for elegant and age worthy Cabernet Sauvignon. While styles have shifted over time, she has remained consistent. As a result, her wines focus on purity, structure, and balance rather than excess.
The 2020 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon from Corison Winery comes from benchland vineyards between Rutherford and St. Helena. These sites produce fruit with depth, freshness, and a clear mineral edge. Therefore, the wine reflects both location and vine age.
On the nose, this Napa Valley Cabernet opens with black cherry, violet, and dried herbs. In addition, subtle aromatic lift adds complexity. On the palate, cassis and graphite lead the way. At the same time, fine spice notes add depth. Lively acidity provides energy, while fine grained tannins give structure. As a result, the wine feels balanced and precise, with a long and composed finish.
This Cabernet Sauvignon drinks well now. However, it will continue to evolve over the next decade or more. Therefore, it suits both immediate enjoyment and cellaring.
Cathy Corison now works alongside her daughter Grace Corison. Together, they maintain an independent, family run winery with a clear and focused vision. As a result, the wines show consistency and quiet confidence.
We are proud to offer Corison at americanwine.club. We also thank K&U Weinhalle for their trust and collaboration in making this allocation possible.
