Tablas Creek Mourvèdre 2019 is a standout expression of this noble Rhône variety. Grown in limestone-rich soils in the Adelaida District of Paso Robles, it delivers purity, depth, and structure. While most Mourvèdre from the estate is blended into the flagship Esprit de Tablas, only the most distinct parcels become this rare single-varietal bottling.
A Unique Vintage with Energy and Focus
The 2019 vintage began with ample winter rain, which refreshed the soils and set the stage for healthy growth. A cool spring followed, delaying budbreak and compressing the harvest window. As a result, the grapes ripened quickly and evenly, preserving acidity and building layered complexity.
Native Fermentation and Large-Format Aging
After harvest, the fruit was destemmed and fermented on native yeast in large wooden tanks. The wine matured in 1,200-gallon French oak foudres before bottling the following spring. This approach supports purity and transparency—hallmarks of the Tablas Creek style.
A Complex and Expressive Palate
On the nose, this Mourvèdre shows brambly raspberry, dried herbs, and leather. The palate delivers crunchy red fruit, plum-skin acidity, and a textured mix of spice, mineral notes, and earthy depth. Tannins are firm yet polished, carrying through to a long, savory finish.
Certified Biodynamic and Organically Farmed
Tablas Creek has farmed organically and biodynamically for over 20 years. This wine reflects that philosophy—clean, vibrant, and deeply rooted in place. With cellaring, it will gain even more dimension and elegance over the next 10 years.
