Ridge Pagani Ranch Zinfandel 2021

The 2021 vintage of Ridge Pagani Ranch Zinfandel is a compelling expression of one of California’s great old‑vine vineyards, this wine combines power and elegance. The blend comprises approximately 90% Zinfandel, with smaller percentages of Petite Sirah and Alicante Bouschet. Since 1991, Ridge has made zinfandel from the Pagani Vineyard on the western side of Sonoma Valley. The majority of the vineyard was planted ninety to one hundred twenty years ago; portions of it were replanted between 2013—2018. The vineyard is meticulously tended by a quality-conscious family who has worked the land for four generations. An average site would have been abandoned during the thirteen years of Prohibition, or during the Depression.

On the nose you’ll find intense aromas of blueberry, red cherry and bramble, accompanied by dark chocolate and a fine peppery spice. The palate offers rich, saturated fruit balanced by fresh acidity and silky yet firm tannins, leading into a long, carefully layered finish. While enjoyable in its youth, this wine also has the structure to age gracefully.

Ideal drinking temperature is around 16–18 °C, and decanting for 30–60 minutes is recommended for full expression. Serve alongside grilled meats, robust stews or aged cheeses.
