Living Roots
Living Roots is a young transatlantic winery producing crisp, expressive wines from New York’s Finger Lakes and Australia’s Adelaide Hills. Their Rieslings and Pinot Noirs from the Finger Lakes capture the clarity and energy of one of the most exciting cool-climate wine regions in the United States.
Cabernet Franc loves cool climates, and the Finger Lakes may be its most expressive home in North America. The 2023 vintage from Living Roots proves it. Grown in top vineyard sites around Cayuga and Keuka Lake, this wine brings clarity, lift, and balance.
On the nose, it opens with red currant, raspberry, and gentle herbal notes. Hints of graphite and a smoky edge follow through to a clean, vibrant finish. The fruit was mostly fermented as whole berries to keep purity and texture at the forefront. The result is a lighter, more aromatic take on Cabernet Franc—lean, energetic, and food-friendly.
Framed by brisk acidity and soft tannins, this wine shines with grilled duck, roasted vegetables, or lentil stew. It’s complex but unpretentious. Elegant yet refreshing.
