Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars is one of Napa Valley’s great icons. The estate sits in the Stags Leap District, one of the region’s most respected appellations. From there, it helped turn Napa from a promising region into a global benchmark for fine wine.
The defining moment came in 1976. At the Judgment of Paris, a blind tasting changed wine history. Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars entered its 1973 S.L.V. Cabernet Sauvignon. Then the impossible happened. The wine beat some of France’s most famous First Growth Bordeaux wines and took first place in the red wine category.
As a result, the tasting shocked the wine establishment. More importantly, it proved that California could compete with the very best of Europe. It also gave Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon a new global reputation.

The 2024 Karia Chardonnay from Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars showcases a refined and elegant side of Napa Valley. While the winery built its reputation on world-famous Cabernet Sauvignon, Karia proves that Napa can also produce Chardonnay with remarkable freshness, balance, and complexity.
The name Karia means “graceful,” and this wine delivers exactly that. To create Karia, the winemaking team sources fruit from carefully selected vineyards throughout southern Napa Valley. There, cooling breezes from San Pablo Bay slow ripening and preserve natural acidity. As a result, the wine combines California sunshine with impressive freshness and precision.
First, aromas of white peach, ripe pear, lemon blossom, and golden apple rise from the glass. Then, subtle notes of vanilla, toasted almond, and baking spice add further complexity.
