Crafted from organically grown grapes on Ridge’s famed Monte Bello estate vineyards in the Santa Cruz Mountains, this 2019 Estate Cabernet Sauvignon showcases the winery’s hallmark style: elegance, structure, and age-worthy depth. The wine is a blend dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon, rounded out by Merlot and small amounts of Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc, reflecting the vineyard’s classic Bordeaux character.
In the glass, it opens with aromas of black cherry, graphite, fresh herbs, and subtle oak spice. On the palate, ripe dark fruit meets fine-grained tannins and vibrant acidity, delivering a wine that’s rich yet balanced, with layered complexity and a long, polished finish. Aged in American oak barrels, it offers power and restraint in equal measure – a testament to Ridge’s precise, minimal intervention winemaking philosophy.
This wine has the structure to age and evolve but it is approachable now with a decant. It promises excellent development over the next 10–15 years. Ideal for collectors and lovers of cool-climate Cabernet. We suggest buying three: one for now, one to share, one to keep.
