This 2023 Gewürztraminer from Weis Vineyards is a brilliant example of what the Finger Lakes can achieve with aromatic white varietals. Grown on slopes influenced by Keuka and Seneca Lakes, the wine shows pronounced notes of lychee, tropical fruit, and geranium, complemented by a hint of anise spice. A longer skin contact adds depth, golden hue, and a richer mouthfeel. At just 0.7% residual sugar, it is dry in style while offering a broad, flavorful profile that stands up to spicy and aromatic cuisine.

Founded by German-born winemaker Hans Peter Weis, Weis Vineyards has quickly gained critical acclaim for crafting precise, expressive wines from the Finger Lakes’ coolest sites. With accolades from Wine Enthusiast and Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate, their Gewürztraminer has consistently performed across vintages: the 2021 vintage receiving Silver at the Finger Lakes International Wine Competition, and earlier vintages scoring as high as 90 points.
