Brooks Wine ranks among the most compelling producers in Oregon. Situated in the Eola-Amity Hills AVA of the Willamette Valley, the estate produces expressive Pinot Noir and Riesling with clarity, soul, and a sense of purpose. Here, biodynamic farming aligns with strong community values. As a result, every bottle carries a story of legacy, land, and love.
That story began with Jimi Brooks, a Portland native who discovered his passion for wine during a harvest in Beaujolais, France. His time in Europe shaped a vision rooted in old-world farming and low-intervention winemaking. After returning to Oregon in the late 1990s, he founded Brooks Wine in 1998 with a mission to craft wines that honored place, people, and vintage.
In 2004, just before harvest, Jimi passed away suddenly. What followed was extraordinary. Friends and fellow winemakers united to complete the vintage in his honor. Since then, Brooks has remained independent and family-owned. Jimi’s sister, Janie Brooks Heuck, stepped into the role of steward and has guided the winery with care and foresight. Today, winemaker Claire Jarreau leads production, continuing Jimi’s legacy with a strong focus on transparency, sustainability, and balance.
Moreover, Brooks has become a leader in biodynamic and regenerative viticulture. The estate is Demeter-certified, a Certified B Corporation, and part of 1% for the Planet. These commitments are not mere labels. Instead, they reflect how the winery treats its soils, energy use, and relationships—with intention and accountability.
Brooks Pinot Noir delivers structure and vibrancy, shaped by volcanic soils and a cool climate. Likewise, their Rieslings show purity, electric acidity, and age-worthiness. In addition, the portfolio includes rare bottlings that express curiosity and deep respect for site and season.
The story of Brooks, and the people who helped carry Jimi’s vision forward, is featured in the award-winning documentary American Wine Story. It captures the heart of the winery and illustrates how joy, resilience, and generosity can create something enduring.
At americanwine.club, we are proud to offer Brooks wines exclusively to our European community. Janie once told us she had always dreamed of bringing her Rieslings to Germany. Today, that dream has become a reality—and we are thrilled to share it with you.
