Odette Estate Winery is a Napa Valley estate located in the Stag’s Leap AVA, one of the region’s most historically significant and stylistically distinctive appellations. The estate focuses on elegance, texture, and balance, offering a refined interpretation of Napa Valley wines that emphasizes site expression over sheer power.
The vineyards sit on a mix of volcanic soils and alluvial fans at the base of the Vaca Mountains. The area acts like a natural basin, where cool air from San Pablo Bay funnels in and settles, creating what is often referred to as the “bathtub effect.” This results in slow, even ripening and helps preserve acidity and aromatic clarity, key traits that define the elegance of Stags Leap wines. This terroir defines the Stag’s Leap AVA style and produces Cabernet Sauvignon with supple tannins, layered dark fruit, and a polished mouthfeel. Odette embraces this character deliberately, aiming for structure with finesse rather than extraction or opulence.
While Cabernet Sauvignon is central to the estate, Chardonnay plays an equally intentional role in Odette’s portfolio. The Chardonnay reflects the same philosophy of restraint and precision that defines the reds. It focuses on balance, texture, and freshness, combining ripe orchard fruit with vibrant acidity and carefully integrated oak. Rather than pursuing richness, the wine emphasizes clarity and food friendliness, positioning Odette as a serious Napa Valley Chardonnay producer alongside its Cabernet identity.
Odette is part of the PlumpJack Group, the family owned hospitality and wine company founded by Gavin Newsom and Gordon Getty. Within the group, Odette complements CADE Estate Winery on Howell Mountain by representing the more refined and textural side of Napa Valley, while sharing a common commitment to sustainability, precision, and estate driven winemaking.
